About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases courteously and efficiently, including scanning merchandise, accepting payments, and verifying, renewing, or upgrading memberships. The role provides excellent member service, supports membership and loyalty offerings, maintains front-line cleanliness, and assists with self-checkout and other club operations. Cashiers are expected to follow club policies and procedures, work collaboratively, maintain a friendly and positive attitude, and help provide a safe, clean, and inclusive environment. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Requirements

• Basic math skills preferred.
• Prior cashier or sales experience preferred.

• Frequently lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds; heavier or awkward objects may need to be lifted and moved with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Explain BJ’s membership options and offer appropriate products, including renewals, EASY renewal, loyalty programs, and Rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service and check members out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Collect cash, checks, and other payments; issue receipts or change.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations.
• Stay informed about merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain front-line cleanliness and assist with general club housekeeping when necessary.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Manage self-checkout and scan-and-pan lanes and assist members with operational or technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations and follow club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Work with team members to uphold GOLD member and club standards, support a safe and positive environment, and achieve team goals.
