About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner, including scanning merchandise, accepting payments, and verifying, renewing, or upgrading memberships. The role provides efficient, high-quality member service, maintains the cleanliness of the front-line department, and supports self-checkout operations. Cashiers follow club policies and procedures, work collaboratively to meet goals, and help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for members and team members.

Responsibilities

• Understand BJ’s membership options and offer appropriate products, including renewals, EASY renewal, loyalty programs, and rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service and check members out in a timely, efficient manner.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations.
• Collect payments by cash, check, or other charge methods, and issue receipts or change.
• Stay informed about merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the front-line area and assist with general club housekeeping when needed.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Manage self-checkout and scan-and-pan lanes, and assist members with operational or technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations and follow all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Work as a team to uphold GOLD member and club standards, including greeting members, delivering service excellence, keeping items stocked, executing promotions, maintaining accurate signage, and keeping the club clean and organized.
