About The Position

The Cashier checks out customers’ merchandise through POS registers and performs customer service activities, including greeting and acknowledging customers promptly and warmly and handling merchandise with care. The role supports a pleasant and productive shopping experience by providing friendly service, maintaining product knowledge, staying aware of advertised sales, and helping customers make buying decisions. When not ringing up products, the Cashier stocks and straightens shelves and pegs in the immediate area. The position performs duties under general supervision using established procedures and occasional independent judgment.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and make change.
• Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers and associates.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computerized Point of Sale register system.
• Ability to stand and/or walk throughout the shift, communicate and exchange information, and repeatedly use wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Ability to move and lift objects up to 20 pounds constantly and occasionally move and lift objects up to 50 pounds or more, using a team lift as needed.
• Perform tasks under general supervision using established procedures; occasional independent judgment is required to complete assignments.

Responsibilities

• Process customer merchandise through POS registers.
• Greet and acknowledge customers promptly and in a friendly manner; handle merchandise with care.
• Support a pleasant and productive shopping experience and provide a legendary experience for every customer.
• Approach customers in a friendly, outgoing manner and remain knowledgeable about products and advertised sales.
• Stock and straighten shelves and pegs in the immediate area when not checking out merchandise.
• Assist customers with buying decisions by identifying and evaluating their needs and making product recommendations.
• Promote programs including CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Make recommendations regarding work procedures, policies, and practices.
