About The Position

The Cashier processes Member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner, verifies and offers membership products, scans merchandise, and accepts payments. The role provides efficient, high-quality Member service and maintains the cleanliness of the front-line department. Cashiers support club policies, procedures, and compliance; promote a safe, positive, inclusive environment; and work collaboratively to meet club standards and goals. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Responsibilities

• Explain BJ’s membership options and promote renewals, upgrades, EASY renewal, BJ’s Loyalty programs, and Rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service and check Members out efficiently and promptly.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to support accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations.
• Collect payments by cash, check, or other charge payments, and issue receipts or change.
• Stay informed about merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information; apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the front-line area and assist with general club housekeeping when necessary.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Manage self-checkout and scan-and-pan lanes and help Members with operational or technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations.
• Follow club policies and procedures and perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Support safe, positive, inclusive Member and team experiences and contribute to daily club standards.
