About The Position

Guitar Center’s Cashier supports its mission to nurture lifelong musicians and help people experience the joy of creating music. The role is responsible for accurately processing customer transactions, maintaining front-end operations, supporting store safety and security procedures, and contributing to an organized and efficient store environment. It helps ensure operational excellence, safeguard company assets, and support overall store performance.

Requirements

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to handle cash and complete financial transactions responsibly.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to consistently follow operational, safety, and security procedures.

Nice To Haves

• Previous cashier or retail operations experience.
• Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
• Familiarity with inventory control and loss-prevention practices.
• Passion for music and familiarity with musical instruments, audio equipment, or music technology.

Responsibilities

• Accurately process cash, credit card, gift card, financing, and other payment transactions.
• Balance cash drawers and follow established cash-handling procedures.
• Verify merchandise and applicable serial numbers in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Support loss-prevention and asset-protection initiatives by adhering to operational controls.
• Monitor the front-end area and communicate safety, security, or operational concerns to store leadership.
• Assist with returns, exchanges, and transaction corrections in accordance with company policy.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and professional checkout area.
• Assist with merchandise recovery, stocking, pricing, and other assigned operational tasks.
• Support store opening, closing, and daily operational procedures.
• Follow company safety, security, and operational standards to minimize risk and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with store leadership and associates to support day-to-day store operations.
