About The Position
The Cashier provides friendly, efficient, and accurate service to customers while processing transactions, maintaining the checkout area, and supporting overall store operations. This entry-level role works under close supervision and focuses on learning point-of-sale systems, basic procedures, and customer service. Prior experience is limited or not required; cash-handling experience is preferred but not required. The role includes greeting customers, processing purchases and payments, maintaining accurate records, assisting with product inquiries, keeping the checkout area clean and supplied, and supporting other store tasks as assigned. Employees will receive proper training and protective equipment for assigned tasks requiring special handling. Management may assign additional duties as necessary to support store operations.
Requirements
- Cash-handling experience is preferred but not required.
- Basic math skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to operate a cash register and other point-of-sale equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle transactions quickly and accurately.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) certification is required.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
- Cash-handling experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and provide exceptional customer service.
- Scan and process customer purchases accurately and efficiently.
- Handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, and other forms of payment.
- Issue receipts and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Bag or package customer purchases as needed.
- Answer customer inquiries and assist with product selection.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
- Stock and replenish supplies at the checkout counter.
- Follow company policies and procedures regarding cash handling and security.
- Assist with other store tasks as assigned, such as stocking shelves or cleaning.
- Resolve customer complaints and escalate issues to management when necessary.
- Promote store promotions and loyalty programs.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support store operations.
