About The Position

This position is responsible for greeting customers, operating the POS system, handling cash transactions, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the store. The cashier will also assist with promotions, stocking merchandise, and ensuring adherence to company policies and safety procedures. Additionally, the role involves assisting with training new cashiers and performing other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of proper cash handling procedures.
Understanding of the “Change Round-up” program.
Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Awareness of safety procedures and ability to report hazards.
Willingness to assist with training new employees.
Adherence to company policies and procedures.
Ability to perform assigned duties within the framework of Guiding Principles.

Responsibilities

Greeting customers both via phone or in person in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner, offering assistance to customers.
Operating the POS to ensure accurate and efficient sales data, price, and information codes on merchandise.
Ensuring proper cash handling of all transactions including proper processing of coupons and discounts.
Ensuring the integrity of the “Change Round-up” program where all customers must be asked to round up the change from each transaction to support the mission of Memphis Goodwill within our community.
Cleaning front doors, counters and glass frequently, dust cases, keep front of store clean, return shopping carts and baskets to appropriate areas, return unsold merchandise to proper area.
Assisting with promotions to include customer information, postings, special sign displays, etc.
Stocking and maintaining counter, showcases and cash/wraps in a neat and clean condition at all times.
Working in a safe manner, adhering to proper handling of material movement equipment and communicating any safety hazards or concerns.
Assisting in training new cashiers.
Cleaning dressing rooms and re-hang clothes as needed.
Placing apparel, wares, shoes, accessories, etc., onto sales floor in correct location and rotate merchandise from sales floor as needed.
Adhering to all Memphis Goodwill policies and procedures; follow good safety practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Team Leader Coach.
Adhering to all Memphis Goodwill policies and procedures, relating to theft or pilferage and handling of cash receipts, according to Agency and GGC policies and procedures.
Performing assigned duties within the framework of our Guiding Principles.
May be asked to participate in activities outside of Goodwill.
Attending in-service and related training as assigned by Team Leader Coach.
Performing other duties as assigned by Team Leader Coach.
