About The Position

As a Cashier, you’re often the first and last face our customers see, and that matters. You’ll keep the checkout experience smooth, friendly, and accurate, while also being a helpful resource for customers on the floor when things are quiet. If you love people, take pride in doing things right, and have a knack for numbers, you’ll fit right in. You’ll also be an important link between the front end and the rest of the store team, communicating clearly, flagging issues, and keeping things moving.

Requirements

  • A genuine passion for customer service and making people feel welcome
  • Comfort with numbers and a high level of accuracy when handling cash and processing transactions
  • Willingness to learn about our products and what our customers are working on
  • A collaborative, team-first mindset to communicate clearly and support your teammates
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and safe work practices
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • No prior cashier or retail experience? No problem, we’re happy to train the right person.
  • Previous customer service or retail experience is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Greeting every customer with a smile within 10 seconds of their arrival through the front door or at your till
  • Scanning items accurately, confirming correct prices and quantities, and processing payments quickly and professionally
  • Handling cash, debit, and credit transactions with accuracy and confidence
  • Double-checking all customer receipts before they head out, including contractor customers
  • Processing returns of up to $50 on cash accounts and $100 on charge accounts
  • Balancing your cash register at the end of each shift, ensuring every dollar is accounted for
  • Helping customers find products and sharing product knowledge to make their visit a great one
  • Communicating with teammates and other departments to flag discrepancies, stock questions, or customer needs
  • Facing shelves and doing minor stock replenishment within the cashier area when not serving customers
  • Keeping the front of the store clean by sweeping and/or vacuuming
  • Staying in the loop on current promotions and product availability
  • Always working in compliance with WorkSafeBC Standards
  • Completing opening and closing duties
