About The Position

Processes Member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner, including verifying, renewing, and upgrading memberships; offering membership products; scanning merchandise; and accepting payments. Provides excellent Member service efficiently and productively, while maintaining the cleanliness of the front-line department. Carries out assigned responsibilities, supports club policies and compliance, and helps ensure a safe, positive, inclusive environment. Works collaboratively to meet goals, maintain club standards, and respond to Member concerns.

Requirements

• Basic math skills preferred.
• Prior cashier or sales experience preferred.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Ability to frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; heavier or awkward objects may need to be lifted and moved with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Explain BJ’s membership options and offer appropriate products, renewals, EASY renewal, loyalty programs, and Rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service and check Members out promptly and efficiently.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to maintain accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations.
• Collect cash, checks, and other payments; issue receipts or change.
• Stay current on merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain front-line cleanliness and assist with general club housekeeping as needed.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Manage self-checkout and scan-and-go lanes and assist Members with operational or technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations and follow club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments when needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Support a safe, positive, inclusive environment; address or escalate Member concerns and work collaboratively to achieve goals.
• Help maintain daily GOLD club standards, including stocked merchandise, executed promotions, accurate signage, and clean, organized spaces.
• Understand how to access and read department production or financial performance reporting.
