About The Position

The Cashier handles register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise at an Ace Retail Group store. The role provides friendly, efficient customer service, follows register procedures, balances the register drawer, and helps maintain an orderly and well-stocked front end. Cashiers are expected to incorporate the company’s Core Values into their daily decisions and interactions. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, and climb.
Ability to exhibit and incorporate the company’s Core Values into daily decisions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

Cashier experience preferred.
Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Represent Westlake Ace Hardware positively and greet customers throughout the store.
Thank customers by name when possible as they leave.
Maintain a friendly, outgoing demeanor and work well with customers and associates.
Clear checkout lines quickly and efficiently.
Answer and monitor calls and pages promptly, courteously, and effectively.
Communicate problems or issues requiring management assistance.
Build product knowledge and help customers locate products and navigate the store.
Assist with pricing, stocking, marking, and bagging merchandise.
Follow all cash register transaction procedures and balance the register drawer.
Implement Store Support Center programs or promotions at the registers as required.
Participate in store and Cashier meetings.
Keep the front end, checkout areas, and entrance doors neat and clean; face and dust the front end.
Keep impulse counters stocked and faced, rotating seasonal merchandise as needed.
Ensure fresh advertisements are stocked in shopping carts and forms and supplies remain stocked.
Assist with decorating the front end according to Store Support Center programs.
Call for cart pickups when necessary.
Inform management when merchandise returns need to be put away.
Perform other duties as assigned.
