About The Position

This position is for a Cashier at the Lower DeBot Marketplace. It is a student hourly position within the University Dining department. Applicants must be at least a part-time student enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits and be in good academic standing with cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher. The role involves providing excellent customer service, managing transactions, and assisting with front-of-house duties when needed. Successful candidates will undergo mandatory training and a criminal background check.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per week with at least two night/weekend shifts per month.
  • Excellent math skills; specifically dealing with money and making change.
  • Able to handle working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand on hard floors for an extended period of time.
  • Must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits).
  • Must be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher).
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must pass all UWSP mandatory trainings along with department specific (food handling) trainings as part of their employment onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service.
  • Registers sales on a cash register by scanning items, itemizing and totaling customers’ purchases.
  • Resolves customers’ issues and answers questions.
  • Bag purchases if needed.
  • Processes return transactions.
  • Assist with front of house and restocking shelves in Lower DeBot Marketplace when business is slow at the register.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings.
  • Complete University Dining Orientation and all mandatory trainings (including PCI credit card Compliance and Information Security training) upon hiring.
  • Abide to the policies outlined in the University Dining Student Employment Handbook and any department specific policies, procedures, and expectations.
