About The Position

The Cashier Team Member is a seasonal role supporting The Fresh Market during key business periods. Team members may work in Grocery, Guest Service (Front End), Early Morning Production, or Produce, and may provide counter support in Deli, Bakery, or Meat & Seafood. The role focuses on delivering exceptional, personal guest service and maintaining a welcoming shopping experience. Seasonal team members are hired temporarily, are not regular permanent employees, and employment may end when the seasonal business period concludes.

The position requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays. Team members handle and prepare products, assist guests throughout the store, stock and merchandise items, process purchases and cash, and help with general store upkeep. The work involves physical activity, including extended periods standing or walking, repetitive movements, lifting and moving items, and exposure to extreme temperatures. Required protective apparel and equipment must be worn.

Requirements

• Passion for providing extraordinary service.
• At least 16 years of age; at least 18 years of age for work in Deli, Bakery, or Produce.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements, grasp, bend, and reach.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds alone.
• Ability to spend extended periods on one's feet and stand or walk without a break for up to four hours or as required by law.
• Ability to use knives, ladders, stepstools, box cutters, pallet jacks, and other equipment, unless under age 18.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality industries.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent guest service by engaging with guests to understand their needs and help them create meal solutions.
• Maintain knowledge of store products and weekly ad items, and work across departments to assist guests.
• Safely handle food products for guest sampling.
• Merchandise and stock products and specialty items throughout the day while assisting nearby guests.
• Weigh and scan products, handle cash, and provide change where appropriate.
• Gather shopping carts from the parking lot and perform general housekeeping duties throughout the store.
• Slice and prepare department meats, cheeses, and convenient meal solutions while maintaining quality product levels.
• Present oneself professionally and adhere to uniform standards.
• Wear an approved hat, hair net, and/or beard guard, as well as personal protective equipment.
