About The Position

The Cashier/Sales Associate provides customer service and operates the register while helping keep the store clean, safe, organized, and well stocked. The role includes sales of lottery tickets, cigarettes, and alcohol in compliance with age-verification and legal requirements, along with offering friendly service and upselling when appropriate. The position involves substantial cleaning and maintenance inside and outside the store, including restrooms, gas pumps, entryways, and parking-lot areas. Associates stock shelves, coolers, and displays, may cross-train in other departments such as deli, and follow company safety procedures and policies. Candidates should be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varied weather and spending most of their shift on their feet.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Must be prepared to work hard and remain on their feet for most of the shift.
Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
Must have basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
Must be capable of frequently lifting 10 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
Must pass pre-employment drug screening and be subject to a criminal-history background check.
Should have a friendly demeanor and be able to make customers feel welcome.
Should be detail-oriented, punctual, trustworthy, responsible, and adaptable.
Previous retail or customer-service experience is appreciated but not required.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and operate the register accurately and quickly.
Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
Provide friendly service and upsell when possible to increase sales.
Keep indoor and outdoor store areas clean and safe.
Deep-clean high-use restrooms.
Wipe down and sanitize gas pumps, including nozzles, screens, and water buckets.
Pick up litter and trash from floors and lot areas.
Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain entryways.
Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
Follow safety procedures and company policies.
Help teammates and step in wherever needed.
