About The Position

The Cashier checks out customers’ merchandise through POS registers and performs customer service activities, including greeting and acknowledging customers promptly and courteously and handling merchandise with care. The role supports a pleasant and productive shopping experience by providing friendly service, staying knowledgeable about products and advertised sales, and assisting customers with buying decisions. When not ringing up purchases, the Cashier stocks and straightens shelves and pegs in the immediate area.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and make change.
• Ability to communicate with customers and associates in a friendly, professional manner.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computerized Point of Sale register system.
• Ability to stand and/or walk constantly during the shift.
• Ability to occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps, or similar structures.
• Ability to constantly communicate and repeat motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Ability to occasionally work in low or high temperatures, outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind, and noisy environments.
• Ability to constantly move and lift objects up to 20 pounds and occasionally move and lift objects up to 50 pounds or more, using a team lift as needed.

Responsibilities

• Process customers’ merchandise through POS registers.
• Greet and acknowledge customers promptly and in a friendly manner.
• Handle merchandise with care and support a pleasant, productive shopping experience.
• Remain knowledgeable about products and advertised sales.
• Stock and straighten shelves and pegs in the immediate area when not ringing up purchases.
• Identify and evaluate customers’ needs and recommend products based on that analysis.
• Promote programs including CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
