About The Position

Assists the Camp Store Supervisor in store operations as assigned. Duties may include, but are not limited to, Barista duties, sales, receiving, and stocking. During the year, this position will often be the only staff person in the Camp Store, and will complete end-of-day processes such as balancing and closing the till, cleaning and closing down the espresso stand for the day and other opening and ending of shift tasks. Shifts during The Lights of Christmas may also include acting as the Shift Lead, providing breaks for other staff and volunteers, and end-of-day processes as assigned by the Camp Store Supervisor. The person in this position shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior towards colleagues, guests and supervisors. Regular attendance is essential for this position. Adherence to a published, departmental schedule is expected and required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages, and to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Food Handler's Permit

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform retail sales as scheduled by the Camp Store Supervisor, maintain in-depth knowledge of the point-of-sale system, and in-depth knowledge of barista duties and guidelines for espresso stand.
  • Ensure that excellent customer service occurs for everyone who enters "The Camp Store."
  • Ensure that the physical environment of "The Camp Store" meets an excellent standard (i.e. clean, attractive, displays updated regularly)
  • Assist in training of seasonal staff when assigned.
  • Assist in receiving and pricing store merchandise.
  • Carry out accounting functions and other essential record-keeping as assigned by the Camp Store Supervisor.
  • Assist in setup and takedown of store extensions that are a part of The Lights of Christmas.
  • Act as Shift Lead during The Lights of Christmas, as assigned by the Camp Store Supervisor, providing break coverage, and performing end-of-day processes.
