About The Position

The Cash Application Specialist plays a critical role in the financial operations of a transportation and warehousing company by ensuring accurate and timely application of incoming payments to customer accounts. This position is responsible for reconciling payments, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining detailed records to support the company’s cash flow and financial reporting. The specialist will collaborate closely with the accounts receivable and billing teams to verify payment information and address any issues that may arise.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• At least 2 years of experience in cash applications, accounts receivable, or a related financial role.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with customers and internal teams.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the transportation and warehousing industry or a similar logistics environment.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of electronic payment processing and banking procedures.
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex payment discrepancies independently.

Responsibilities

• Process and apply incoming payments from various sources including checks, electronic funds transfers, and credit card transactions to customer accounts accurately and promptly.
• Reconcile daily cash receipts and resolve any discrepancies between payments received and invoices billed.
• Communicate with customers and internal teams to clarify payment details and resolve any issues related to unapplied or misapplied payments.
• Maintain detailed and organized records of all cash application activities to support audit and financial reporting requirements.
• Assist in month-end closing activities by providing accurate cash application data and supporting documentation.
