About The Position

The Caseworker works within the Circuit Court alongside the Adult Recovery and Family Recovery Court to aid in case management duties. This role involves connecting participants with essential resources such as housing, jobs, and treatment, and collaborating with treatment teams. The position requires maintaining accurate records of services and client progress, performing curfew checks and random drug tests, administering risk and needs assessments, and assisting with the intake process for program participants. The Caseworker will also act as a representative of St. Mary's County Government and the Circuit Court.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with people struggling with addiction, recovery, and or mental health stability.
  • Ability to advocate for participants with treatment and government resources.
  • Ability to maintain systems of accountability for program participants.
  • Ability to gain working knowledge of St. Mary's County Government policies and procedures.
  • Ability to act as a representative of St. Mary's County Government and the Circuit Court to the public.
  • Ability to gain knowledge of the judicial system.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other staff, judges, attorneys, and members of the public.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to operate relevant computer systems, including hardware and software, and simple office machines.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to work primarily evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Must successfully pass background investigation with favorable results.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or higher
  • Substance Abuse/Mental Health Counseling Certification(s)
  • Knowledge of recovery principles, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing
  • One or more years of related experience; or additional education in the specialized area
  • Equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with consumers, family members, case manager and the coordinator for Adult Recovery Court.
  • Ability to work with participants to connect them to resources, i.e., housing, jobs, treatment; and collaborate with treatment teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of services, client progress, and report to the treatment team, as appropriate.
  • Perform curfew checks and random U/A's.
  • Administer RANT (Risk and Needs Triage) evaluation with incarcerated individuals.
  • Work alongside Case Manager to complete intake process for program participants.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
