About The Position

The John Howard Society of Ottawa is seeking a Caseworker for the Carling Supportive Housing program. This is a housing first program supporting individuals with barriers who have experienced chronic homelessness. The caseworker will be responsible for leading program design and implementation, working closely with clients to set and achieve goals, providing unit care, and offering other necessary supports for client success. The role operates under the direction of the residential coordinator.

Requirements

Three (1) to five (3) years of experience in a role in the homelessness and supportive housing sector.
Knowledge of the Housing First approach to homelessness, Ontario Land-Lord Tenant Act, SPDAT Assessment, and HIFIS.
Caseworker experience.
Ability to coordinate all on-site program related functions through a gender- and trauma-responsive framework.
A strong commitment to supporting all residents, who may be navigating the legal system.
Excellent people skills to facilitate relationships with clients, colleagues, supervisors, program partners and community members.
A willingness to work in collaboration with a wide variety of community partners, agencies and emergency services.

Responsibilities

Leading the program design and implementation for the housing first program.

Being on-call on a rotation.
Working flexible hours that may include evenings and weekends.
