About The Position

This position will travel between Jackson County and George County. Must be willing to travel and have a satisfactory driving record. The Case Worker evaluates the needs of low-income participants and provides available services. The Case Worker completes intake and determines clients' eligibility for all DCS programs. He/She assesses client needs, sets goals and prepares pledges. Case Workers also assist with Food Pantry pick-up (Jackson County) and assist in compiling reporting data and community needs assessment.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel between Jackson County and George County.
  • Must have a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must demonstrate good communication and speaking skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
  • Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required.
  • Knowledge of case management methods, principles, and techniques (including information/referral, assessment, interviewing client advocacy, and resource utilization).
  • Familiarity with available programs, public assistance providers, Medicaid, service agencies, protective services, referral centers, community residential resources, and crisis/emergency resources.
  • Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
  • Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e. telephone, fax, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in using MS Office.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of automated data processing, and ability to quickly gain a detailed understanding of complex computerized and non-computerized information.
  • A valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field.
  • One year experience in Human Service related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills for communicating with a wide range of people to promote goodwill and enhance agency credibility.
