About The Position

This position will travel between Jackson County and George County. Must be willing to travel and have a satisfactory driving record. The Case Worker evaluates the needs of low-income participants and provides available services. The Case Worker completes intake and determines clients' eligibility for all DCS programs. He/She assesses client needs, sets goals and prepares pledges. Case Workers also assist with Food Pantry pick-up (Jackson County) and assist in compiling reporting data and community needs assessment.

Requirements

Must be willing to travel between Jackson County and George County.
Must have a satisfactory driving record.
Must demonstrate good communication and speaking skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required.
Knowledge of case management methods, principles, and techniques (including information/referral, assessment, interviewing client advocacy, and resource utilization).
Familiarity with available programs, public assistance providers, Medicaid, service agencies, protective services, referral centers, community residential resources, and crisis/emergency resources.
Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e. telephone, fax, etc.).
Advanced knowledge and skill in using MS Office.
Understanding of the fundamentals of automated data processing, and ability to quickly gain a detailed understanding of complex computerized and non-computerized information.
A valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in social work or related field.
One year experience in Human Service related field.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills for communicating with a wide range of people to promote goodwill and enhance agency credibility.
