About The Position

HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS) Nuevo Camino program is dedicated to providing 38 unaccompanied minors, ages 5-12, with a supportive, nurturing environment through transitional foster homes, daily educational services Monday - Friday, and supportive wrap-around services in the Sunset Park neighborhood section of New York City. Our program is committed to ensuring that service delivery is trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and tailored to the needs of each child while complying with ORR (Office of Refugee Resettlements) program and maintaining all program requirements of ORR.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four year college or equivalent required
  • 1 year of similar experience required
  • Bilingual and Fluent in English and Spanish required
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients and co-workers.
  • Knowledgeable about working with immigrant youth population.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, multi-task, and determine priorities.
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledgeable about ACS/OCFS regulations governing disciplinary actions.
  • Experience and facility working with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, multi-task, and determine priorities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR-Certified a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and support to unaccompanied children in the Nuevo Camino program.
  • Identify and assess appropriate sponsors, including parents or legal guardians, for family reunification.
  • Evaluate the safety and well-being of potential sponsors and identify any concerns.
  • Collaborate with the Nuevo Camino team and Federal Field Specialist to address sponsor-related concerns.
  • Ensure each child receives essential services, including medical and dental care, mental health services, basic education, program orientation, and legal screening.
  • Maintain compliance with all program requirements, federal regulations, and case management standards.
