About The Position

At Gateway to Recovery, we don’t just treat symptoms; we support people. As our Substance Use Recovery Specialist, you are a core member of our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. You will work with adults and Transition Age Youth (TAY) in San Diego County who are navigating both mental health challenges and substance use disorders. This is community-based, "on-the-ground" work where you help members transition from long-term care back into the lives they want to lead. The Dual-Diagnosis Expert: You’ll serve as the primary support for members, focusing your expertise on substance use and addiction to help them live independently. The Community Navigator: This isn't an office-bound role. You’ll meet members where they are—using your vehicle or a company car to drive them to appointments and groups—to ensure recovery happens in their own community. Advocacy in Action: You’ll support a caseload of individuals identified as "High Utilizers," helping them break the cycle of hospitalization and find stability. Multidisciplinary Collaboration: You’ll work alongside clinicians, peers, and medical staff in a collaborative, person-centered environment.
