About The Position

The Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Case Manager Unit Supervisor within the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member driven. These services provide individuals with opportunities to exercise their rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and engagement in the community. Applicants for this position cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have spouse or close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge in Federal and State Statues, agency policies and procedures relating to the care and treatment of persons with developmental disabilities; agency personnel rules and practices.
  • Knowledge in Principles and practices of case management, methodology, procedures, and techniques in development of Individual or Family Support Plans, Individual Service Plans, or Person-Centered Plans for people with developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge in Social, intellectual, and behavioral problems of people with developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge in Community resources, medical and behavioral health issues and terminology.
  • Knowledge in Crisis management.
  • Knowledge in Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Skills in Oral and written communication.
  • Skills in Counseling (as used in providing advice and assistance) and interacting with members and family members.
  • Skills in Conducting needs assessments.
  • Skills in Leadership and team building.
  • Skills in Workload management.
  • Skills in Problem identification and resolution.
  • Ability to Assess needs and determine suitability of Individual Family Support Plans/Individual Service Plans, teaching, and coaching/training; analyze issues and develop positive solutions.

  • As required by AHCCCS Contract No. YH6-0014, a Case Manager Supervisor must be an Arizona licensed registered nurse in good standing OR possess a degree in social work with a minimum of three (3) years case management experience OR possess a bachelor's degree in psychology, special education, or counseling, with a minimum of three (3) years’ of case management experience and three (3) years of management experience OR five (5) years of case management experience. Or in compliance with current AHCCCS Contract No. YH6-0014 contractual requirements.
  • Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
  • Employees shall have a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1968 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults.
  • Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Department of Child Safety Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459.
  • Driver’s License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
  • All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs work activities of subordinate staff; provides necessary training; provides technical advice and assistance to staff regarding development, implementation, or monitoring of member Individual Support Plans (ISP); completes performance evaluations.
  • Reviews cases assigned to work unit; assesses needs and assigns case to staff members; reviews Individual Support Plan developed by Support Coordinator to ensure member needs are met; ensures assignment area completed within established time lines in compliance with quality standards.
  • In compliance with requirements, must drive a vehicle to conduct on-site visits to members’ homes & program sites to observe staff conduct the PCP meeting and observe SC interactions with members and families. Drive to planning meetings to assist their staff w/complex members & planning meetings. Drives to planning meetings to complete them in the SC's absence. May also be required to attend meetings with their teams, leaders, etc., at alternative locations. Supervisors may be required to attend interviews.
  • Meeting with subordinate staff to assist with identifying necessary changes and modifications to Person Centered Plan.
  • Reviewing, verifying, and authorizing expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints; preparing reports relating to cases assigned to the work unit; completing special projects as assigned, e.g., conducting unit, district, or statewide training as needed.
