About The Position

The Case Manager (Financial Empowerment & Wellbeing) provides a broad range of services to help increase the financial well-being of low-income adults in different communities across the GTA by engaging participants, collaborating with partners, and interacting with the communities. The Case Manager also develops, implements, and evaluates financial empowerment tools including but not limited to training, workshops, webinars, and self-learning materials meeting the aspiration and project mandates. The Case Manager develops a service plan and records financial empowerment activities to streamline the services ensuring customer service excellence.

Requirements

  • University Degree preferred or College Diploma in Business Management, Financial Services, or relevant training/experience.
  • Superior presentation and written communication skills with the ability to provide excellent service delivery.
  • Able to motivate and encourage others; familiarity and understanding of various tools to assist with financial well-being and empowerment.
  • Proficient with computer applications, e.g. Microsoft Office 365 and Internet search engines.
  • Previous working experience with virtual platforms.
  • Able to visualize, understand and articulate YMCA outcomes.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff, and volunteers.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent understanding of diversity, inclusion and equity including the ability to identify and address barriers, work effectively with diverse stakeholders, and integrate equity into program design.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Personal Financial Services Advice course from the Canadian Securities Institute is an asset (not required).
  • Minimum 2 years counselling, financial services, and/or case management is an asset.
  • Previous demonstrated experience with group facilitation or training is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews, assesses, and assists participants to achieve their financial empowerment and wellbeing goals through identifying and following up on a plan of action to achieve those goals.
  • Provides one-to-one coaching and motivation. Prepares participants for financial empowerment and wellbeing education, engagement, self-learning, and awareness through the facilitation of (i) income, expenses, and budget, (ii) banking, insurance, and financial tools, (iii) saving and investment, (iv) credit and debt management, (v) dealing with mortgage, (vi) income tax and benefits, (vii) retirement plan, (viii) financial planning, (ix) identity theft and fraud protection, and (x) digital platform for financial wellbeing workshops.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of workshop material; updates curriculum when needed.
  • Supports the Online Learning Platform Specialist with the creation of learning materials for the general public.
  • Prepares for and facilitates in-class learning; engages participants making workshops interactive and relevant.
  • Advocates on behalf of participants to community services and programs that will move them closer to their financial empowerment and wellbeing goals. Consults with team members and community partners to find empowerment opportunities, and monitor progress ensuring case management. Participates in outreach events/ activities through collaboration and relationship development with community partners.
  • Refers members to appropriate program service providers or community agencies based on personal needs and goals of participants.
  • Ensures self-management of program targets related to the Financial Empowerment and Wellbeing program delivery and funder expectations; completes and maintains members' files as per funder and YMCA quality standards.
  • Completes case note documentation, workshop attendance and handles confidential data; ensures quality audit measures are achieved in accordance with the YMCA and funder’s standards.
  • Demonstrates appropriate behaviours in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; takes a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the Association. Represents the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner.
  • Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
  • Understands the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.
