About The Position

As a Case Manager with our Family Services team, this position will have direct contact with children, youth and their parents, case managers of voluntary agencies, and public schools in Oregon that are highly impacted by newly arrived refugee students (namely Multnomor, Washington, and Clackamas counties) and other educational programs to provide the necessary support to clients to achieve school success. Please note this position requires demonstrated fluency (read, write, and speak) in English and Ukrainian or Russian.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Reliable transportation for business purposes, such as between work locations and community settings as this position drives clients in personal and/or agency rental.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak in English, Ukrainian or Russian.
  • Standard LCSNW criminal clearance, including national sex offender, motor vehicle records, valid Oregon driver’s license with clean driving record, and active auto insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain case management for clients in accordance with state and federal-funded contracts
  • Work with clients to develop strengths-based service plans to identify barriers to self-sufficiency and outline the necessary steps to overcome these barriers including being the liaison between clients and schools, and other educational support services
  • Provide school orientation to students and parents, connect students to afterschool activities (including homework help) and summer programs, and conduct outreach activities to share information with school contacts on program services
  • Track and monitor student grades and attendance through regular contact with families and teachers/school counselors.
  • Provide transportation support for clients by scheduling medical rides or helping them understand and access public transportation for required appointments, and ensure language access is available for those appointments.
  • Coordinate needed services through referrals to refugee service providers including the Health Department, Employment Services, Social Security, DSHS and ESL providers
  • Ensure that clients are being served in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner and provide education and advocacy when necessary
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant program/department requirements, including and not limited to adhering to all record-keeping and reporting requirements.
  • Model and encourage direct, professional communication among staff members and facilitate development of a positive staff support network.
  • Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served.
  • Other duties as assigned.
