About The Position

The Medical Division of the New York City Police Department is responsible for overseeing the health and well-being of all members of the service. Case Management Nurses consult with private physicians of members of the service and conduct in-depth interviews with members to evaluate treatment plans. They conduct follow-ups with hospitals where members have been admitted for emergency care, surgery, etc., to monitor the quality of care and ensure the member is returned to duty as soon as medically indicated. They act as health care educational resource people for Department members and their families and provide counseling to encourage health care practices that promote physical and emotional well-being to reduce absenteeism.

Requirements

  • A valid New York State license as a Registered Nurse.
  • A baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited college, and three years of clinical nursing experience; or
  • An associate degree in nursing from an accredited college, and five years of clinical nursing experience; or
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
  • All candidates must have a valid New York State license as a Registered Nurse.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one additional year of clinical nursing experience to be assigned to Assignment Level II.
