About The Position

The Carpenter works from plans to build, assemble, fit together, align, plumb, and set in place forms for molding concrete structures. The role may also involve installing miscellaneous materials integral to concrete structures, precast concrete elements, and permanent metal deck forms, as well as preparing for slipforming traffic rail and median barrier. The Carpenter works under the Foreman and must follow company safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Education: less than a high school diploma.
• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.
• Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Selected candidates must pass a drug screen.
• Candidates selected for a field position must pass a medical exam to ensure capacity to perform the required tasks.
• Must be knowledgeable about and follow the company's safety policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum 0–3 years of related construction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, fit together, align, plumb, and set in place forms for molding concrete structures using plans.
• Check forms while concrete is being placed.
• Direct others in stripping forms after concrete is placed.
• Install miscellaneous materials integral to concrete structures as needed.
• Install precast concrete elements as needed.
• Prepare for slipforming traffic rail and median barrier.
• Install permanent metal deck forms as needed.
• Work with power tools as needed.
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Provide leadership to others through example and sharing knowledge and skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report unsafe activities to a supervisor and/or Human Resources.
