About The Position

The Carpenter works from plans to build, assemble, fit together, align, plumb, and set in place forms for molding concrete structures. The role includes checking forms during concrete placement, directing others in stripping forms, and potentially installing materials integral to concrete structures, precast concrete elements, and permanent metal deck forms. The Carpenter may also prepare for slipforming traffic rail and median barrier and work with power tools. The position requires compliance with safety policies and procedures, participation in team efforts to achieve company goals, and leadership through example and sharing knowledge and skills. The work is performed outdoors in changing weather conditions and involves strenuous, heavy physical activity and manual dexterity.

Requirements

• Less than a High School Diploma.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
• Ability to perform strenuous, heavy physical activity of a primarily productive or technical nature.

Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, fit together, align, plumb, and set forms for molding concrete structures according to plans.
• Check forms while concrete is being placed.
• Direct others in stripping forms after concrete is placed.
• May install miscellaneous materials integral to concrete structures.
• May install precast concrete elements.
• Prepare for slipforming traffic rail and median barrier.
• May install permanent metal deck forms.
• May work with power tools.
• Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report unsafe activities to a supervisor and/or Human Resources.
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Provide leadership to others through example and by sharing knowledge and skills.
• Perform other work that enhances company operations.
