About The Position

Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking experienced Heavy Civil Road Carpenters and structural form builders for our Laredo, Tx project. Carpenters are responsible for the construction, installation, and fabrication of forms and structures using wood, patent form systems, or a combination of both. The role involves constructing, erecting, installing, fabricating, dismantling, and repairing structures, formwork, and fixtures of wood, metal forms, and associated accessories. This is a hands-on, field-based position focused on forming and framing concrete structures for highways, bridges, and municipal infrastructure.

Requirements

  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level).
  • Written pre-employment qualification test.
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.

  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace.
  • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.).
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).
  • Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
  • Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
  • Able to carry 50 lbs. of tool and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Select type and size of related materials according to job specifications.
  • Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required (e.g., lumber or fiberboard) and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
  • Select specified type of lumber or other materials.
  • Prepare layouts including lines and grade.
  • Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials.
  • Shape materials to prescribed measurements.
  • Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
  • Assemble cut and shaped materials and fasten them together.
  • Fabricate from work, then load, haul, and carry it to the job site and install per drawings, sketches, or plans.
  • Place and finish concrete in formwork and set and align form panels.
  • Set grout forms for epoxy and cement grout.
