About The Position

EMI Services is hiring a Carpenter to work at U.S. Army Fort Jackson. This is a non-seasonal, always steady work position with competitive wages and an insurance allowance. The primary responsibilities of the Carpenter include designing, building, remodeling, retrofitting, maintaining, and repairing various types of facilities and structures, both interior and exterior. This includes work from vinyl siding to soffits and roofs, as well as cabinets, tables, benches, doors, and door closures. Materials used include wood, drywall, plaster, concrete, brick, ceramic tile, and paint. The ideal candidate is an experienced handyman who can perform a wide range of tasks while adhering to all health and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 + years of experience in the carpentry trades.
  • Valid driver's license compliant with REAL ID Act or willingness and ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Regular, dependable attendance.
  • US citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations.

  • Mechanically inclined with the mindset of making alterations and repairs.
  • Basic understanding of facia and trim with fabrication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team to complete tasks.
  • Adaptable and flexible in work situations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, remodel, retrofit, maintain and repair facilities and structures.
  • Work on interior and exterior elements, including siding, soffits, roofs, cabinets, tables, benches, doors, and door closures.
  • Work with materials such as wood, drywall, plaster, concrete, brick, ceramic tile, and paint.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Assess tasks and determine solutions, including cost, time, and materials.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
