About The Position

Mortenson is seeking a Carpenter Journeyman to provide skilled craftsmanship in the installation of formwork, finish carpentry, and drywall. The role includes reading plans and measuring dimensions, performing concrete and rough carpentry, and completing door and finish carpentry installations. The position description notes that duties may change without notice and that lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling more than 50 pounds will be done with assistance from another team member or equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of an apprenticeship program.
• Union-specific training.
• Ability to work with precision, visualize solid objects from drawings, read plans, and operate equipment, including table saws, radial arm saws, belt and disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging, and form systems.
• Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, including active listening and openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; heavier loads require assistance from another team member or equipment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employment visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine material requirements and measure dimensions.
• Perform concrete and rough carpentry, including hand-set walls, footings, gang wall forms, structural concrete decks, slabs, columns, and drywall.
• Set door frames, hang doors, and install hardware.
• Complete finish carpentry tasks, including installing toilet accessories, handrails, corner guards, partitions, lockers, cabinets, countertops, wall paneling, coffered ceilings, and running trim.
• Build relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
