About The Position

The Carpenter Helper supports carpentry work by reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and specifications; performing tasks with hand tools; preparing material takeoffs; and constructing, installing, and repairing wood, plywood, and wallboard structures and fixtures. The role also involves operating hand and power tools and company equipment, safely receiving and offloading materials, and preparing surfaces for paint or other applications. Other duties may be assigned. The employee may be required to work more than eight hours per day and on weekends. Compensation will follow Fair Labor Standards Act guidelines.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent desired.
Two to three years of experience in skilled carpentry.
Favorable driving record and valid driver's license.
Successfully complete a background check and drug/alcohol screening.
Skilled in reading, writing, and math.
Ability to read blueprints.
Accuracy, attention to detail, organization, reliability, responsibility, safety awareness, accountability, and ambition.
Active listening, applied learning, conflict resolution, customer orientation, and decision-making skills.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Skill in using carpentry power and hand tools.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
Perform a variety of tasks using hand tools, including minor demolition activities and wood and metal stud framing.
Prepare material takeoffs.
Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard.
Operate hand and power tools and company equipment.
Receive and safely and proficiently offload materials.
Prepare surfaces for paint and other applications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
