About The Position

The Industrial Carpenter Helper assists carpenters with installing and repairing structures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard. The work includes measuring and cutting materials, sanding and assembling wooden components, and helping with concrete form construction. The role requires basic familiarity with carpentry tools and techniques, the ability to follow instructions, and the ability to work as part of a team. The position is located in Freeport, Texas, and functionally reports to the Superintendent.

Requirements

• At least 1–2 years of experience working as a Carpenter Helper.
• Experience working with carpentry, concrete, and rebar.
• Knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved in basic building techniques and form construction.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions.
• Ability to work the full work schedule and additional overtime as needed.
• Willingness to work safely and follow safety rules and regulations.
• Valid driver's license.
• Reliable transportation.
• Must pass a drug and background check.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Authorization to work lawfully in the United States without sponsorship from Norrell Construction.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, adaptability, teamwork, effective time management, and the ability to prioritize and plan work activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist carpenters with measuring, marking, and cutting wooden and metallic materials to specifications.
• Assist with constructing, reinforcing, and dismantling pre-constructed concrete forms, and with building wooden forms.
• Help install wooden frames, roof trusses, and wallboards.
• Assist with miscellaneous construction projects, including decks, steps, bulletin boards, and other wooden structures.
• Operate hand and power tools, including saws, hammers, drills, and sanders.
• Mix and apply adhesives, fillers, and caulks to seal joints and gaps.
• Load and unload materials and equipment from trucks and work areas.
• Prepare, clean, and maintain orderly work areas by removing debris and storing tools.
• Assist in maintaining tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Identify tools required for tasks and recognize safety risks and precautions needed to eliminate them.
• Follow company and site rules, safety requirements, and regulations.
