About The Position

This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Caring Foundation and support the community engagement efforts of BCBSND. The role is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in a formal training/development setting within a defined functional area. Interns will work on an individual plan outlining specific duties and projects, guided by a designated mentor. The ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to learn, professional drive, attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team. A passion for community and improving health and well-being is highly valued. Knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Office products is preferred.

Requirements

  • Currently completing post-secondary studies in a specified field or a recent graduate with a degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or Journalism, or a related field.
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and attentive to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative in a team environment.
  • Collaborates with team members, mentors, and leaders within the organization.
  • Coachable with a highly motivated work ethic.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Equivalent combination of education, experience or training determined to be acceptable by Human Resources may be substituted, unless regulated by contract or program standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft office products is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and support the community engagement and BCBSND Caring Foundation team members.
  • Learns organizational processes and procedures to support department staff with general tasks and projects.
  • Develops professional skills through on-the-job learning, technical training and department exposure.
  • Builds relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develops an understanding of what each department does within the organization through cross functional meetings and informational sessions.
  • Demonstrates professional workplace behaviors, is punctual and presents an appropriate appearance.
  • Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Create and assist with research.
  • Support execution of short and long-term project strategy initiatives.
  • Prepare presentation materials for employee meetings and forums.
  • Support administrative needs.
  • Complete other special projects as assigned.
