About The Position

The CMA CGM Group, a global leader in shipping and logistics, is seeking a Honolulu Cargo Flow Officer to act as a sub-agency for CMA CGM (America) LLC – Norfolk. This multi-functional role involves customer service, finance, and operations responsibilities. The position serves as the principal CMA CGM contact for vessel and equipment operations, customer inquiries (import/export), and expediting issues to reduce service failures. The ideal candidate is passionate about customers, adaptable to industry changes, and capable of executing essential functions and daily responsibilities to support the Honolulu office's business strategy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 3-5 years of General Experience
  • 1-3 years of Industry Experience
  • Understanding of phone etiquette
  • Concept comprehension of active listening, which includes demonstrating empathy.
  • Strong foundation in problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of the Maritime Shipping Industry.
  • Knowledge of vessel and equipment operations.
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational, time management and a high level of analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in computer skills to include all Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of import and export shipments, including bill of lading release, booking creation/confirmation, rate validation/tariff line-item filing, and providing customer information on sailing schedules, cut-off dates, equipment availability, routing, and track & trace for containers and chassis.
  • Address customer inquiries via email/telephone, using corporate information, local tools, and third-party data to ensure compliance with regulations, company policies, and trade directives.
  • Research and resolve import/export issues through root cause analysis, acting as a liaison between CCA functional teams/GBS/overseas counterparts and external customers to minimize service failures.
  • Provide management with resolution options for corrective actions on escalated issues.
  • Liaise with internal departments (origin/destination agents, accounts receivable, GBS) to assist customers with remittance advice, payment posting, balance inquiries, and account reconciliation.
  • Review and reconcile supplier/vendor invoice discrepancies.
  • Re-bill customers for transport-related expenses when applicable.
  • Produce and issue load/transportation orders, vessel operations reports (lift projections, HI BIO & wharfage reports, shift reports), and neighbor island schedules for various suppliers and vendors.
  • Interface with internal and external teams for import and export vessel and equipment operations, including customs liaison for radiation portal monitoring, monitoring vessel allocations, arranging connecting carrier agreements, maintaining equipment pool levels, organizing hazardous declarations, distributing cargo manifests, approving late gate authorizations, resolving terminal/gate issues, and ordering National Cargo Bureau surveys.
  • Ensure over-the-road compliance for door deliveries, neighbor island moves, military cargo, and the chassis pool.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.
