About The Position

On June 16, 2022, Governor Kathy Hochul signed the NYC Public Housing Preservation Trust Act, which authorized the creation of the NYC Public Housing Preservation Trust (the Trust). The Trust is a public benefit corporation that will oversee the renovation and rehabilitation of the City’s public housing developments, owned by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). NYCHA will remain the permanent owner of the land/buildings and will enter a long-term ground lease with the Trust to secure Section 8 vouchers. The selected Caretaker will be a NYCHA employee assigned to Nostrand Houses and will perform caretaking services on behalf of the NYC Public Housing Preservation Trust.

Requirements

  • NYCHA employees applying for transfer, promotional, title or level change opportunities must have served a period of one year at current location and in current title and level (if applicable).
  • There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep and mop public places
  • Police grounds
  • Wash windows
  • Service compactors
  • Collect garbage and recyclables
  • Remove bulk debris
  • Remove snow and ice conditions
  • Clean ramps and drains
  • Clean roofs, roof drains and canopies
  • Replace defective lights
  • Polish, wax
  • Make daily safety checks of elevator hatch doors and vision glass
  • Perform other related duties, as directed
