About The Position

Visiting Angels Abilene is seeking compassionate caregivers to support senior adults and others in need across the Big Country area, including Buffalo Gap, Tuscola, and Hawley. The role provides companionship and assistance with daily activities, such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, personal care, mobility, and transportation. Caregivers may also develop their skills through advanced training in areas such as dementia care and Alzheimer’s care. Shift options listed include part-time, 8-hour, 10-hour, and 12-hour shifts, as well as PRN.

Requirements

Passion for serving others and being a caregiver.
Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
Respectful and compassionate disposition.
Good time-management skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ethics.
Physical endurance.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Help clients take prescribed medication.
Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home and outside the home, including doctor’s appointments and walks.
Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
Help clients with routine exercises.
Plan and prepare meals with clients’ assistance when they are able.
Do clients’ shopping or accompany them while shopping.
Perform light housekeeping duties clients cannot complete on their own.
Be a pleasant and supportive companion.
Report unusual incidents.
Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
