About The Position

Senior Helpers Southern Maryland is hiring experienced caregivers to provide personalized, one-on-one care to seniors in their homes throughout Southern Maryland. The role supports clients in remaining safe, comfortable, and independent. Schedules vary with client needs and caregiver availability, with typical hours of 12–40 per week depending on available assignments. Weekend and holiday availability is preferred. The position offers $16.00–$19.00 per hour based on experience and assignment, and training is paid at $15.00 per hour.

Caregivers may provide companionship and emotional support; assist with personal care, mobility, meals, medication reminders, errands, and daily routines; perform light housekeeping and laundry; and observe and report changes in clients' conditions. The company offers training and ongoing professional development, mileage reimbursement, and support from a local office team.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of caregiving experience.
• Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach.
• Dependable and committed to scheduled shifts.
• Comfortable providing care independently in a client's home.
• Professional and able to communicate effectively.
• Valid driver's license.
• Current auto insurance and reliable transportation.
• Negative TB screening.
• Ability to complete required basic health screening and pre-employment onboarding.
• Ability to pass required background checks.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with dementia, Parkinson's disease, mobility assistance, personal care, or other specialized care needs.
• CNA, GNA, or HHA experience is welcome but not required for all assignments.
• Weekend and holiday availability is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
• Help clients with mobility, walking, and safe transfers.
• Prepare meals and provide medication reminders.
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry.
• Assist with errands and transportation when applicable.
• Support clients with daily routines and activities.
• Observe and report changes in clients' conditions.
• Promote client safety, comfort, dignity, and independence.
