Caregiver
About The Position
Caregivers at REM West Virginia support people with a variety of needs, including autism and related conditions, in assisted-living, group-home, and waiver-home settings. The role involves building meaningful relationships, helping individuals participate in their communities and enjoy preferred activities, and supporting developmental goals such as budgeting, dental hygiene, exercise, and nutrition. Caregivers also assist with personal hygiene and daily activities, including eating, dressing, bathing, and toileting, and may support people with behavioral challenges and other complex needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Patient, compassionate, reliable, and responsible.
- Ability to cook, clean, and assist with personal care.
- Ability to stay calm and problem-solve in stressful situations.
- Valid driver's license and access to a registered vehicle with proof of insurance in some positions.
Nice To Haves
- Six months of experience in human services, direct care, or care coordination.
Responsibilities
- Develop meaningful relationships with the individuals served.
