About The Position

All’s Well Healthcare has partnered with the State of California’s Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to offer a statewide, paid three-month shadow training program. The program matches candidates with organizations supporting adults with special needs. Participants shadow staff to gain firsthand experience and may be offered permanent employment if there is a mutual fit, sometimes as early as the third week.

As a Direct Service Professional (DSP) Intern, you will work under the supervision of an experienced DSP mentor for up to three months and 30 hours per week. You will shadow, train, and learn how to support individuals with diverse developmental and intellectual needs in living more independently and fulfilling lives. Duties vary according to each person’s needs and goals.

Pay is $16.90 per hour, with possible conversion to $18 per hour. Pay is weekly, and incentives are offered. The listed schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or a Certificate of Completion.
• Must have a valid California driver’s license held for a minimum of two years.
• Must pass a background check, comprehensive driver screening, and other required health screenings.
• Ability to perform the physical tasks described, including occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
