About The Position

UCP Oregon is seeking a caregiver, also referred to as a Personal Assistant, to support a young man with developmental disabilities who lives independently in his own apartment in NW Portland. He is active and has interests in screenwriting, comic books, coffee, video games, and visiting Powell's bookstore. The role involves assisting him with daily living activities such as medication and meal preparation, household chores, bathing, and dressing. Additionally, the caregiver will provide life coaching and support during moments of anxiety. Driving is not a requirement, but street parking is available if the caregiver chooses to drive. The client lives near public transit lines. The position offers two shifts per week totaling 27 hours, with an option for an additional 3-hour shift. Agency holidays are worked, and holiday pay is provided.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass pre-hiring screenings, including a reference check, a physical with a lifting test of 50lbs, and a criminal history background check
  • If choosing to drive for UCP: at least 18 years old, have a current driver’s license, a reliable personal vehicle, at least two years of driving experience, auto insurance, and a clean driving record.
