Position Summary The Career Success Power Skills Instructor –High School Learners facilitates a 60-hour, non-credit Power Skills course for learners participating in partnership initiatives between the Community College of Philadelphia and the City of Philadelphia. This course prepares high school students to understand the requirements for municipal and private-sector employment by strengthening critical workplace competencies, exposing them to career pathways and culminating in the ACT WorkKeys assessment, through which students may earn the National Career Readiness Certificate. Working collaboratively with the Director of CCME Education and Training, the instructor ensures course readiness, student engagement, and instructional quality while supporting learnersinunderstandingtheiremploymentpotentialin essential City government roles and other skill-based careers.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrated experience instructing or training high school learners in workforce development, professional skills, or related areas.
Strong facilitation, classroom management, and interpersonal communication skills in high school settings.
Ability to deliver instruction in both in-person and virtual learning environments.
Proficiency in learning management systems and basic educational technology.
Ability to work evening hours and maintain schedule flexibility as needed.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in education, workforce development, human resources, or related fields.
Experience teaching employability skills or career readiness curricula within youth development contexts.
Familiarity with ACT WorkKeys or similar workforce assessments.
Experience working with municipal workforce initiatives, community-based programs, or high school populations.

Responsibilities

Deliver provided curriculum while creating an engaging,student-centered classroom environment and ensuring all core course deliverables are met.
Provide timely feedback to students on assignments and in-class discussions.
Demonstrate appropriate use of instructional and learning technologies to enhance student learning and experience, including effective use of Canvas, CCP’s learning management system, to track student progress and engagement.
Facilitate instruction focused on critical thinking, problem solving, team building, budgeting, and interpersonal communication skills, culminating in student participation in the ACT WorkKeys assessment leading to the National Career Readiness Certificate.
Submit final pass/fail grades in accordance with College requirements.
Maintain critical documentation, including student sign-in sheets and attendance records, and provide documentation to CCME team members as required.
Ensure any missed instructional sessions are made up to meet the total course hours assigned at the start of the course.
Attend professional development and instructor trainings as needed to support effective instructional delivery and course maintenance, including but not limited to Banner, Canvas, ACT WorkKeys, and related systems.
Complete ACT WorkKeys Proctor training and demonstrate proficiency with ACT WorkKeys testing protocols, including efficient management of class rosters within the WorkKeys platform.
Administer and proctor the final ACT WorkKeys assessment using the ACT WorkKeys and Valor platforms,in accordance withrequired guidelines and testing protocols.
Proactively identify and address classroom challenges and communicate with the CCME team to resolve issues related to the Career Success Power Skills course.
Establish and sustain an inclusive learning environment that demonstrates understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of the College’s faculty, staff, and students.
Manage the learning environment with a student-centered focus by implementing diverse teaching and learning strategies that accommodate varied learning styles.
