About The Position

Tallahassee State College (TSC) is seeking a full-time, grant-funded Career Navigator for the Florida Youth College program, a partnership between TSC and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice/Workforce Development. This role focuses on providing case management and counseling to youth in DJJ residential facilities, guiding them through career assessment, exploration, and post-release planning to support their long-term workforce success. The position reports to the Deputy Director under the Florida Youth College grant.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related area from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive support and detailed information about Florida Youth College to youths’ parents, the general public, and staff via in-person, phone, text, and email communication.
  • Maintaining ongoing awareness of available youth resources to share with project partners and becoming a subject matter expert in areas such as Registered Apprenticeship, WIOA, Military, Career Exploration, or other areas identified by leadership.
  • Conducting required 5-, 15-, 30-, 60-, 90-, and 180-day follow-ups with assigned caseloads and maintaining cumulative activity reports.
  • Reviewing and processing referrals and related program documents.
  • Assisting with the registration process and responding to inquiries regarding admission into postsecondary institutions.
  • Processing changes in Workday and collaborating with instructors and program staff to support student success.
  • Working with students to determine appropriate program tracks and reviewing documents for accuracy.
  • Working closely with students to develop tailored, comprehensive success plans.
  • Making referrals, scheduling and coordinating with program partners, and providing community resources to support student success and pathways to work-based learning or postsecondary education.
  • Educating students on available options while providing guidance and advisement.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with assigned youth to ensure engagement and progress.
  • Assisting each youth with setting up their Employ Florida account and effectively communicating ideas, instructions, and information both verbally and in writing.
  • Developing individualized success plans for assigned youth and working with them to identify required documentation for postsecondary enrollment.
  • Proactively assisting youth in securing work-based learning opportunities following their transition from an institution.
  • Working collaboratively with a team to coordinate comprehensive services for youth while maintaining and utilizing required databases for data tracking.
  • Assisting in developing automated communications with students and resolving process issues related to enrollment, admissions, resource referrals, and records.
  • Serving as a liaison to external stakeholders, including educational partners, WIOA partners, community organizations, Registered Apprenticeship sponsors, employer partners, and others.
  • Advising students on academic requirements, interpreting test scores and transcripts, and reviewing course prerequisites.
  • Assisting with online college credit options, dual enrollment registration, and advising.
  • Cultivating and maintaining ongoing relationships with CareerSource Florida partners, connecting each youth participant to their local workforce development board for continued counseling and access to WIOA services.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
