About The Position

The Career Foundation Program (CFP) is designed for recent college graduates to explore career options through function-specific rotations. Associates learn about an aspect of Smithfield’s business while seeking a position to launch their career with the company. Senior leaders, an assigned manager, mentor, and program manager provide guidance, training, and partnership throughout the assigned rotations. Rotations last 18 to 24 months, depending on the track. Tracks include Sales & Business; Operations; Hog Procurement; Distribution Center; Supply Chain; Operations Engineering; Operations Finance; Hog Production; Feed Mill; Operations Human Resources; and Industrial Engineering. CFP Associates are expected to contribute to the goals of their assigned departments by helping solve problems, taking leadership roles on projects, supporting short- and long-term objectives, and delivering high-level results. After 12 months in the program, Associates may apply for qualifying open positions while continuing their rotations. Placement in a new role is not guaranteed. Mentors, managers, and Talent Acquisition Specialists provide guidance and career counseling during rotations and internal job searches. Proof of graduation is required before the actual start date. This role requires travel of up to 15–25% of the time, including periodic overnight travel, and the ability to relocate one to two times during rotations. Most work is performed in an office outside the production plant, with assignments also involving office, facility, and laboratory environments. The expected pay range is $21.63–$31.25 per hour.
