About The Position

The Career Foundation Program (CFP) provides recent college graduates with an opportunity to explore career options through function-specific rotations. Associates are placed in a track focused on a particular part of Smithfield’s operations and learn about the business while seeking a position to launch their career with the company. Tracks include Sales & Business, Operations, Hog Procurement, Distribution Center, Supply Chain, Operations Engineering, Operations Finance, Hog Production, Feed Mill, Operations Human Resources, and Industrial Engineering. Rotations last 18 to 24 months, depending on the track. Senior leaders, an assigned manager, mentor, and program manager provide guidance, training, and support throughout the rotations. CFP Associates contribute to departmental goals by assisting with problem-solving, taking leadership roles on projects, and helping departments achieve short- and long-term objectives. After 12 months in the program, associates may apply for qualified open positions while continuing their rotations. Selection is merit-based, and placement in a new position is not guaranteed. Mentors, managers, and Talent Acquisition Specialists provide career guidance and counseling during rotations and job searches. Associates must provide proof of graduation before starting.
