About The Position

The Career Development and Technology Specialist empowers students and alumni to achieve their career goals by providing individualized career advising, job search strategies, career readiness programming, and internship support. The position administers Career Services technology platforms, manages office data collection and reporting, supports employer engagement initiatives, and collaborates with campus and external partners to enhance career development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Three years progressively responsible experience in business, management, recruiting, career development, job placement, human resources or related work experience.
  • Must have customer-service oriented attitude and demonstrable, successful customer-service experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an understanding of and enthusiasm for today’s undergraduate and graduate student experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and networking skills.
  • Experience and comfort with public speaking.
  • Strong technology skills with proficiencies in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn specialized software programs.
  • Experience with interpreting data and preparing reports.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills - ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with diplomacy and excellent judgment.
  • Experience and ability to work with all members of the campus community.
  • Ability to attend occasional night and weekend events as needed.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of experience within a postsecondary Career Services Office.
  • Knowledge and use of career services software (e.g., Handshake).
  • Professional experience in resume writing, interview coaching, career counseling, career coaching, life coaching or similar.
  • Experience with PowerBI or Tabulu or other data reporting software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide career advising and support to students and alumni, including resume and cover letter reviews, mock interviews, and job search strategies.
  • Administer and interpret the FOCUS2 Assessment to all students, identifying careers, jobs, and activities that closely align with their interests.
  • Develop and deliver orientation, career readiness, and professional development programs and presentations for new and current students.
  • Administer the university’s online career management platform, including approvals of external job postings and event requests.
  • Manage and develop content for the Career Services website and social media platforms.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data for the Career Services office, including administering the First Destination Survey; tracking office interactions, Co-op/Internship placements, and online database usage; and completing institutional reports for NACE.
  • Coordinate marketing and communication efforts promoting Employer Partnership Program activities, career events, and employment opportunities to students in collaboration with the Employer Development Specialist.
  • Coordinate opportunities to increase connectivity between faculty, students, alumni and external employer partners.
  • Participate in the planning, coordination and implementation of various recruitment events.
  • Assist with university retention initiatives and services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
