Help students achieve their professional goals by working collaboratively with a dedicated, service-oriented Career Services Office team, engaging with other law school departments, and cultivating relationships with legal employers nationwide.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated experience working with or for legal employers or law schools.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • JD degree.
  • Experience working directly with students.
  • Background in career counseling or higher education.
  • Event planning experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of private sector legal careers.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver individualized career advising services to students and recent graduates, including strategic 1:1 sessions, application material reviews, mock interviews, and tailored resource recommendations.
  • As a “core” counselor, your primary responsibility is to build relationships with assigned students and track their employment progress from 1L through graduation.
  • To effectively advise students, counselors must be well-versed in the full spectrum of legal career paths and also serve as a private sector law firm, judicial internship and Intellectual Property law specialist.
  • Build and maintain strong connections with students, student organization leaders, alumni, faculty, administrators, and legal employers to foster a robust professional network.
  • Design, coordinate, and present career-related programming and workshops.
  • Contribute to the development and publication of career resources and materials.
  • Represent the Career Services Office and the School of Law at professional conferences, employer meetings, and campus events.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
