Requirements

  • Minimum Associated Degree in Human Services or related field or High School Diploma plus 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrate the willingness and ability to attain CESP credentials after one year of employment in the CCN department.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Therap.
  • Valid driver’s license and Social Security number
  • Basic computer and documentation skills
  • Ability to pass required background and reference checks

Responsibilities

  • To identify and secure job placement by matching the person’s employment skill level with their job interest.
  • To develop career advancement opportunities for people supported through the Charles Lea Industries and Services and South Carolina Department of Social Services.
  • To initiate and manage referrals and outreach opportunities to support employment skill training with competitive employment being the overall goal.
  • Assist people supported in achieving their career goals by implementing person-centered employment/vocational plans.
  • Community networking in order to increase caseload and employment opportunities.
  • Complete Informational Interviews by becoming a salesperson for the person supported to employees and perspective employers.
  • Attend and chair meetings on behalf of the individuals supported.
  • To work with South Carolina Department of Social Services and the Department of Disability and Special Needs through a referral process in obtaining applicants.
  • To attend the annual providers meeting and trainings as scheduled.
  • To document service as rendered according to the DSS and DDSN protocol and standards.
  • Work with businesses, agencies and organizations to increase education around hiring people with disabilities and remove employment barriers related to community integration and independence.
  • Participate in pre-employment job training sessions with employers in order to effectively ascertain training supports for each DSS or DDSN placement.
  • Communicate effectively with interagency personnel, stakeholders and other natural supports to assure a clear understanding of each supported person’s progress and needs for continued support and successful job experience.
  • Will use assessments to determine goals that are monitored for job success.
  • Pursue opportunities to expand knowledge of and experience in the development of skills needed for employment and develop supports/tools to implement.
  • Promote the use of technology for skills acquisition and maintenance of employment skills.
  • Provide training opportunities to ensure that all employment personnel are knowledgeable of and demonstrate best practices for employment services.
  • Coordinates documentation requirements of Employment Path.
