Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a related field —preferably supporting people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
  • Some college education; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/first aid certification—provided by St. Louis Arc at no cost.
  • Knowledge of Vocational Rehabilitation and how to interact with counselors and supervisors
  • Ability to effectively build relationships with business partners and community stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of funding sources and available resources both internally and externally to best support individuals
  • Understanding of essential business practices and ability to learn about many diverse businesses and their staffing needs
  • Exceptional communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to use multiple software programs
  • Strong ability to cultivate important relationships across multiple constituencies
  • Excellent follow through from project inception to project completion
  • Ability to effectively manage time and territorial management
  • Ability to engage participants, employers, community partners, funders, managers and staff in a positive manner

Responsibilities

  • Provide a variety of supports to determine a person's desire and ability to work competitively.

  • Objectively evaluate a individual’s knowledge, skills and abilities for competitive employment
  • Effectively build business relationships which will evolve into long term partnerships with hiring potential
  • Understand funding processes and collaborate effectively with funders
  • Understand all projects within depart and how they connect
  • Serve as a department representative to individuals, families, support staff, employers and referral sources as the individual progresses through the program
  • Target specific support needs, which will increase individual’s overall success in obtaining and maintaining employment in an area of their choice
  • Prepare and submit paperwork according to established time frames and guidelines meeting agency and funding requirements
  • Provide comprehensive job development services utilizing information from the assessment process to provide an appropriate job match to the individual’s areas of interest
  • Demonstrate and support all St. Louis Arc Diversity and Inclusion practices/initiatives
