About The Position

The Chrysalis SECTOR program, led by LA County’s Justice, Cares, and Opportunities Department, aims to reduce unemployment and recidivism, and improve behavioral health by preparing and matching individuals with justice involvement to jobs in high-growth industries. The program serves individuals with a history of mild to moderate mental health and/or substance use disorders. Chrysalis collaborates with training partners to skill up clients in sectors like social assistance, healthcare, government, IT, and hospitality, while providing employment coaching to help clients secure and retain jobs. This is a grant-funded program with multiple funding streams.

Requirements

  • Passion for Chrysalis’s mission and dedication to serving marginalized or low-income populations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, and public speaking skills, with the ability to use tact and diplomacy in all interactions and effectively represent Chrysalis to external audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible and self-motivated, with a proactive “can-do” attitude.
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse lifestyles and backgrounds.
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Proficient in internet research and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with a willingness to learn additional applications as needed.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on organizational needs and to travel to meetings or other sites (mileage reimbursed).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day case management of both working and non-working clients.
  • Facilitate conversations on career pathing and training with all clients.
  • Orient, assess, and provide employment counseling for clients.
  • Assess clients for job readiness, including discussions of substance abuse, legal, and mental and physical health histories.
  • Provide referrals to educational, training, Chrysalis social enterprise, and other social services.
  • Conduct 1-on-1 job readiness activities with clients, including resume building, practice interviews, job applications, computer tutorials, cover letters, reference lists, job search guidance, etc.
  • Assist clients in selecting, navigating, and succeeding in SECTOR’s vocational training components – supporting completion of paperwork, providing stipends and other resources to clients, and addressing challenges that come up during the completion of training programs.
  • Facilitate Job Preparation classes, cognitive behavioral intervention classes, and other seminars on an as-needed basis.
  • Maintain up-to-date referral resources for clients to engage in training and to facilitate employment search.
  • Conduct program overviews and assist clients with choosing a training pathway that aligns with their career goals.
  • Track and document client progress, services provided, and outcomes in the Salesforce database.
  • Generate reports and analyze data to monitor client and program performance.
  • Streamline enrollment processes with training providers to facilitate client access to opportunities.
  • Evaluate client education, skills, and job interests to match them with appropriate training or services.
  • Address employability challenges by coordinating with Employment Specialists to provide necessary support and community referrals.
  • Coordinate client workshop attendance and program enrollment with partner education/training institutions.
  • Work closely with partner agencies to ensure effective delivery of programming.
  • Conduct outreach to develop on-the-job training sites and identify suitable training opportunities for clients.
  • Collaborate with local One Stop Centers to co-enroll clients in supportive services.
  • Maintain a directory of available training programs, including requirements, enrollment processes, and program details.
  • Partner with External Relations and Business Development teams to align client training with employment opportunities.
  • Adhere to all Chrysalis policies and procedures.
  • Support the Chrysalis Mission and adhere to the Chrysalis Code of Ethics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
