About The Position

The Career Coach supports high school students in identifying career goals and exploring college programs aligned with their aspirations. This is a grant-funded, full-time 10-month position (August 15 – June 15) serving students across the College’s high school partners. The Career Coach reports to the Director of High School Partnerships and is an employee of Davidson-Davie Community College. This position will serve all schools in our service area. While employed by the College, the Career Coach will primarily be based at assigned high school partner sites, with some on-campus responsibilities as well.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ Degree from regionally accredited institution
  • Minimum of two (2) years; experience in secondary and/or post-secondary education

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement programs and services that support, engage, and guide students across the College’s high school partners in identifying career interests and exploring career and educational pathways.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching to students and families to establish academic and career goals, develop pathways, and monitor progress toward goal attainment.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in career assessment and exploration courses across multiple sites.
  • Collaborate with Career Development Coordinators, teachers, counselors, and the Career Development Office at Davidson-Davie Community College to facilitate career exploration opportunities, including job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and other work-based learning experiences.
  • Maintain and share current information on career pathways, labor market trends, and employment opportunities, including internships and work-study options.
  • Collect, track, and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and support continuous improvement and reporting requirements.
  • Partner with community college personnel to provide students and families with information and support related to admissions, Career & College Promise pathways, financial aid, and placement testing.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and communication materials for students, staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and support events and initiatives (e.g., career fairs, classroom presentations, field trips, assessments, and transition activities) that promote successful transitions from middle school to high school and from high school to postsecondary pathways.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with postsecondary institutions, employers, and community leaders to expand career-connected learning opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison representing the College and its high school partners to students, families, employers, and the broader community.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities to stay current on career trends and program requirements.
  • Engage in college-wide activities, including staff meetings, professional development, and recruitment events.
  • Promote the College’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of program and institutional goals.
